The X303 Aegis is a commander-type mobile suit with very advanced sensors and heavy attack power (it is apparently named after the Aegis combat system, rather than directly for Zeus's shield). It can transform into a mobile armor configuration armed with a multi-phase beam cannon (which is later mounted on the GAT-X131 Calamity Gundam). For close-range combat, Aegis is equipped with 4 beam sabers. As these weapons are mounted on the forearms and feet rather than hand-carried, all four can be wielded simultaneously, in either mobile suit or mobile armor configuration.
The Aegis Gundam is transported to Earth shortly after the Battle of Orbit on February 13 to pursue Archangel, it is held at Carpentaria Base in Australia until Archangel passes through the Indian Ocean, where it is sent to rendezvous with the Vosgulov-class submarine Cousteau. The Aegis, Duel, Buster and Blitz Gundams successfully intercept Archangel in midocean and force the heavily damaged assault ship to lay over at Orb for repairs.
Finally, its destruction occurs in late May while fighting Kira Yamato in the GAT-X105 Strike Gundam and Tolle Koenig in his FX-550 Skygrasper. Athrun self-destructs the Aegis Gundam while grappling the Strike Gundam, destroying both units. He ejects before self-destruction and is found injured on the shore by Cagalli Yula Athha. Later in that year, he returns to combat piloting the new, Aegis-derived ZGMF-X09A Justice Gundam. From June to the end of the war he pilots the Justice Gundam as part of the Clyne Faction, alongside Kira Yamato in the ZGMF-X10A Freedom Gundam.
We last see the Aegis Gundam as fragments of a destroyed mobile suit on the island where Athrun and Kira fought, the remains of this fallen metal giant finding their final, peaceful use as a playground for young children. Its shield was later found, if one looks carefully, at the black market auction for junk where Lowe Guele picked up the TMF/TR-2 BuCUE Tactical Reconnaissance Type head he used temporarily for his MBF-P02 Gundam Astray Red Frame. A variation on its transforming system is used by ZAFT, on a much larger scale, in the ZGMF-X11A Regenerate Gundam.

In mid CE 71, ZAFT creates a series of advanced mobile suits based on technology reverse-engineered from the captured Earth Alliance G Project suits. Like their EA predecessors, the ZAFT Gundams are armed with advanced beam weaponry and protected by Phase Shift armor. However, an additional technology is incorporated as well: the Neutron Jammer Canceller, which counters the effects of the ubiquitous N-Jammers and allows these suits to be powered by nuclear reactors. This gives them almost limitless combat endurance, even with Phase Shift armor activated.
One of these suits is the ZGMF-X09A Justice. It is the first and most conventional of the series, armed with beam sabers, beam boomerangs, head-mounted CIWS guns (which, foreshadowing what would later become standard practice, are much smaller in calibur than those of contemporary mobile suits), and a high-energy beam rifle. In addition, the Justice carries a large detachable Fatum-00 pack, which could be remotely controlled or used as a subflight lifter. The Fatum-00 is also well-armed with a pair of beam cannons and multiple machineguns. However, the suit's most powerful weapon is the optional METEOR (Mobile suit Embedded Tactical EnfORcer) support system, a large mobile weapons platform with powerful thrusters and an even more powerful armament of battleship-calibur beam cannons, large beam swords, and dozens of heavy missile launchers that is designed specifically for the Justice and its companion unit, ZGMF-X10A Freedom. Justice also mounts a tall sensor spine on the top of its head, similar to that of the GAT-X303 Aegis, indicating that it was likely also intended as a commander-type mobile suit. Many of it's and the ZGMF-X10A Freedom's systems were tested on the YFX-600R GuAIZ Experimental Firearms Type.
The ZGMF-X09A Justice uses the operating system Generation Unsubdued Nuclear Drive Assault Module Complex.

In late CE 73, ZAFT creates a new series of advanced mobile suits to succeed their previous generation of Gundams, which were all lost in the previous war. Since the Treaty of Junius bans the military use of the Neutron Jammer Canceller, these new Gundams use conventional battery power instead. However, technological improvements over the last two years mean that battery efficiency is improved, and Phase Shift armor is less power intensive than it had once been. To further improve endurance, ZAFT also introduces the new Deuterion Beam Energy Transfer System, which allows a properly equipped battleship to remotely recharge a mobile suit's battery.
One of these new suits is the ZGMF-X23S Saviour, a transformable unit specializing in aerial combat. The Saviour is armed with a large beam rifle, a pair of beam sabers stored in its shoulder, and CIWS guns, as well as a pair of back-mounted pods containing beam and plasma beam cannons. These pods can fold under the Saviour's arms to fire in mobile suit mode, and also constitute its primary armament when it transforms into a high-speed airplane-like flight mode.
The ZGMF-X23S Saviour uses the operating system Generation Unrestricted Network Drive Assault Module.
The Saviour is produced separately from the other 4 new Gundams, and after the fall of Junius Seven it is assigned by Chairman Gilbert Dullindal to Athrun Zala, newly reinstated to ZAFT and appointed by Dullindal to the elite FAITH detachment. Athrun then flies the Saviour Gundam back to Earth and joins the crew of the battleship Minerva, but after disabling the mobile armor YMAG-X7F Gells-Ghe in the Gulnahan Ravine near Suez he accomplishes little in combat. He manages to tie up ZGMF-X24S Chaos pilot Sting Oakley in most engagements by providing a difficult to hit target, but takes very little offensive action against the EA forces. Saviour is later damaged beyond repair by Kira Yamato's ZGMF-X10A Freedom in a naval battle off the coast of Crete.
The Saviour was built using the ZGMF-YX21R Proto-Saviour as its basis. The Proto-Saviour, unlike ZAFT's other new mobile suits, was designed and constructed on Earth. Aside from having a black and white color scheme instead of red, the Proto-Saviour is visually indistinguishable from the Saviour, and is identical in armament. Shortly after the "Break the World" terrorist attack, the Proto-Saviour is stolen by EA forces under the command of LOGOS operative Matisse, and is refitted with the Mirage Colloid Virus Spreader and redesignated with the model number RGX-04. It makes its combat debut by attacking a shuttle carrying EA fugitive Edward Harrelson and escorted by TS-MA4F Exass pilot Morgan Chevalier and ZGMF-1001 ZAKU Phantom pilot Riika Sheder, presumably to sow further distrust between the EA and PLANT. Its is driven off by Terminal pilot Jean Carrey in his MBF-M1 Astray, which is equipped with a Verne 35A/MPFM Multipurpose Flight Module.

The ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice (∞ Justice) is an advanced mobile suit secretly built by ZAFT's rogue Clyne Faction, based on the earlier ZGMF-X09A Justice. It utilizes a new engine design and advanced weaponry that give it several times the combat ability of the original Justice. Infinite Justice has a detachable backpack/subflight lifter similar to that of its predecessor, and is armed with head- and chest-mounted CIWS, two beam sabers, a beam rifle, leg-mounted beam blades, and a shield that mounts a large beam boomerang/saber, a beam shield generator, and an extensional arrestor like that of the ZGMF-600 GuAIZ. Infinite Justice's Fatum-01 subflight lifter is armed with two beam cannons, two short beam sabers mounted on the back of the two beam cannons, a nosetip-mounted beam saber and two wing-mounted beam blades similar to those of the ZGMF-X88S Gaia. Infinite Justice's joints and hands are silver colored, which appears to be a purely cosmetic feature. Its companion unit ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom has gold joints and hands. Like its predecessor, the Infinite Justice can dock with a METEOR unit.
The ZGMF-X19A Infinite Justice uses an updated version of the operating system Generation Unsubdued Nuclear Drive Assault Module Complex.
Infinite Justice makes its debut in Cosmic Era 74, arriving on Earth together with the ZGMF-X20A Strike Freedom during the ZAFT invasion of Orb. It is delivered to Athrun Zala personally by Lacus Clyne, who pilots the Infinite Justice through atmospheric re-entry and lands in the Archangel's mobile suit hangar to give it to Athrun. After talking with Lacus, Athrun takes off in the Infinite Justice to back-up Kira in the Strike Freedom, who was battling both the ZGMF-X42S Destiny and the ZGMF-X666S Legend and manages to chop off Destiny's wrist despite Athrun being injured before the fight. The Justice also plays a highly prominate role in the end of the Second Bloody Valentine War. First, Athrun disables both Shinn Asuka's Destiny and Lunamaria Hawke's Impulse, then, Athrun cripples the Minerva by utilizing the multiple beam cutters on the Justice's Fatum-01 backpack to destroy the Minerva's spaceflight engines, lastly, Athrun use the Justice's backpack, along with help from Neo Lorrnoke's ORB-01 Akatsuki's DRAGOONs, to destroy REQUIEM. When the battle is brought to an end, the Infinite Justice rescues both Shinn and Lunamaria.
